Our current associate pastor, Jennifer McKenna, is retiring at the end of this year, and the position she ably filled is being completely changed. In its place we are creating two all new temporary associate pastor positions. One new temporary position will focus on children and youth ministries. We have already filled the other temporary position which is focused on congregational care (approx. 10 hours per week).
The Temporary Associate Pastor for Children and Youth will be able to use their creativity and enthusiasm to guide two vital areas that are poised for new directions. There are about 50 potential kids in each age group with approximately 20 elementary age children and 20 junior high and high school youth participating on a regular basis. This pastor will have 2 part-time staffers and at least one part-time nursery staffer working with them to help our youngest members and their families to grow in faith. This temporary associate pastor will also work closely with our lead pastor, Jeff Gibelius, and the rest of our ministry team in a supportive collegial environment. At Second we use a team approach to making disciples; you won’t be serving alone.
We will do our best to accommodate the scheduling, compensation, and benefits needs of the right candidate. The hours, salary, and benefits are flexible. If you’re interested, let’s talk about the possibilities.
We are open to people of other denominational backgrounds as long as they are familiar with the PC (USA) and agree to adhere to our doctrines and practices. We are also open to non-ordained candidates if they bring significant experience to these areas of ministry. The temporary associate pastor must also agree not to be considered for the position of installed (i.e. permanent) Associate Pastor for Children and Youth (this is a Presbytery rule).
