A nature hike with Rev. Dr. Vern Gauthier. Vern is the Pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, Newville and Vice President of the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology (a/k/a bird spotters). He loves helping people experience the presence of God in God’s good creation! From the Church building, we will carpool to the Waggoner's Gap Hawk Watch. Pastor Jeff will host.

Holy Guacamole: Make Every Meal A Soulful Experience

Eating, like spirituality, is most gratifying when it involves all five senses. In this two-part “lunch and learn” workshop you will explore the practice of mindful eating with clinical dietitian Tamara Rhodes, RD, LDN. Mindful eating helps us appreciate God’s generosity, promotes physical and emotional health, nurtures our relationship with food, and supports long-term weight management. Through mindful eating, every meal can be a feast for the soul. Pastor Jeff will host.

Poetry As Prayer

Poetry can have a profound impact. During these four weeks, we will explore the work of four modern American poets to better understand how their poetry might impact and inform our own spiritual journeys. Included in the study will be works by Wendell Berry, Emily Dickinson, Mary Oliver and David Whyte. Those who so desire will go out to lunch afterwards. Led by Ruth Leach.

Art and the Heart

See how painting can bring you closer to your creator. Led by Lauren Diffenbach. Cost is $40 (but discounts are available) this includes paints and canvas. Open to any age.

Lauren is a local artist from downtown Chambersburg who graduated from Wilson College with a degree in Fine Arts. She is very passionate about walking close with God. Art has become a way in which the Father speaks and communicates his heart and has drawn people from all over to get in touch with their creative side.

Powerhouse Worship at Messiah for Youth and Young Adults

Connecting Kids with God through their Senses

We can find God in everything we see, hear, feel, smell and even taste. Using our senses can help us realize God’s presence in everyday life. This night for children and parents of those in 5th grade or under will offer fun, interactive, multi-sensory stations for connecting with God. Bring a friend. Dancing with God: How Creative Movement Can Help Us Spiritually.

A Sense of the Resurrection Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday, April 8
9:00 AM

We will discover the great story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It's a story to be awed by. A story to be believed in. Children believe in Santa, the Tooth Fairy and Mickey Mouse. Why not help them believe in the power that brought Jesus back to life. We will discover who Jesus is and why He came through our senses. There’s the smell of vinegar, the sound of roosters, the taste of broken bread and the color of a deep purple robe.
