Vacation Bible School
Children aged 4(potty trained) through grade five have fun being kids as they explore the Bible, make new friends, sing songs, and learn how Jesus works through them in their everyday lives. Over 75 youth and adult volunteers come together for this week long event week in June from 9:00 am until 12:15pm. Each year a different them is selected and the church is completely decorated in the selected them. No fee is charged and the week concludes with an evening program for parents, friends and church members. To register a child or volunteer, click here.
Krislund Camp, near State College, Pa is the Carlisle Presbytery’s camp. Kids from Kindergarten through Senior High participate in the high-energy, high-adventure, Christ-centered programming while adults volunteer in various parts of the camp. Kids can come without their parents; parents can come without kids; in short, Krislund week is for the whole church family. Visit our Krislund Camp page to find out the date of 2nd Pres Week at Krislund or to download a Camp Scholarship application. You can also visit Krislund’s website at www.krislund.org.
Club 45 is a program for our 4th and 5th graders that provides a “youth group” atmosphere. There are mixers, small group sessions, games, mission activities and offsite field trips that make this Club one your children will not want to miss! We meet 6-8 times per year. Contact Vicki Lantz at Vicki@growwithsecond for more information.
Christmas Eve Service
Children as young as three through grade five participate in telling the story of the birth of Christ. Friends and family of this age are also invited to dress as Wisemen, Shepherds, animals or other characters as the story is read from the Bible and the children bring the story to life.
Easter Sunday at Second
Easter Sunday at Second is truly a family celebration. Parents and children worship together as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. Children participate in the Easter celebration by bringing flowers to the cross as an offering. Children will participate at both the 9:00 and 10:30 worship service.
Faith and Family Fun
Each fall we host a hay ride and some type of games or activities, including a campfire. Families can join us for a hayride around the community and return to the church for games, campfire, S’mores and singing.
Early in the new year we host a fun filled evening for children through fifth grade and their families. It’s a chance to run around, be active and shake off the winter blues.
Families came together to experience God through their sense of taste, touch, smell, sound and sight. This was followed by small group and large group games and a chance to play against parents and grandparents. We even had a special area for our toddlers and younger.
Easter Egg Hunt
Each spring we host an Easter Egg Hunt for our church families, friends and relatives along with guests from the neighborhood. We believe that Jesus Christ is the center of our Lent and Easter season and make sure he is the focus of our Easter Egg Hunt. Families experience the meaning of Holy Week from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection through experiential activities followed by an Easter Egg Hunt.
